I just wanted to share with you guys my favorite new twist on the green smoothie. Green Smoothie Porridge. For me, breakfast without a green smoothie is like peanut butter without jelly... it's just dry and missing something. So sometimes I think "well, I could have GF cereal for breakfast for a change", but I can never bring myself to do it because I always feel like it will be lacking in essential nutrition, water content and fresh deliciousness.
So, as a tribute to the famous Acai Granola bowls of southern California ... I came up with this Green Smoothie Porridge Bowl. Now, if you're accustomed to green smoothies at all by now you know that they're not "green" tasting at all unless you put a head of dandelion in there... yuck! This green smoothie has all the green without the green taste. I discovered this AMAZING gluten free granola which I am in LOVE with called KIND Healthy Grains. I love the name too. Unlike traditional granolas which use the standard oat, oil, nuts, seeds and dried fruit mixture, this one is replete with "grains" like Amaranth, Quinoi, Oats, Millet and Buckwheat. Some people don't even consider these grains to be grains because they don't have the negative inflammatory effect on the gut that glutenous grains do. How awesome is that? Soon, I think more and more traditional foods we've come to know and love are going to get a gluten free makeover, and they're going to get the recipes right like this KIND creation so the foods taste amazing like they should. This KIND granola also has 5 grams of fiber in 1/3 of a cup which is pretty darn impressive!
Green Smoothie Base:
1/2 Frozen Banana
1/2C Favorite Frozen Berries (Blueberry, Strawberry, Raspberry, Blackberry)
2 Large Handfuls Fresh Spinach
1 Cup Almond Milk
Blend. Pour in bowl.
Top With:
Kind Cinnamon Oat Clusters with Flax Seeds
A few dried Cranberries for color:-)
Enjoy yet another amazing hippy dippy healthy breakfast!
"I don't dream at night, I dream all day; I dream for a living." -Steven Spielberg (my hero)
Hello world!
I just realized today how reliant I've become on my own blog to keep track of certain aspects of my personal life, such as what I ate a year ago, favorite recipes I've made, cleanses I've partaken of publicly and blogs I love which can all be found on the sidebar of this page. Just this morning I added A Couple Cooksand can't wait to try these amazing and delicious looking Greek Quesadillas (subbing brown rice tortillas and daiya cheese of course;-)
In times of boredom or just desire for inspiration I go to my blog to look through my blogroll to find something I haven't read in a while. It's like a virtual bookshelf of blogs, and the great thing about it is that blogs tend to go on and on forever so there's no end to the story! It's little stories of the way people live, insights into the delights of their worlds, found treasures shared, shared inspirations. I just love it, and the abundance of blogs is amazing and addicting. You find a good one, then of course you want to take a peek at that persons favorites because obviously they have good taste and so it goes. Much time can be consumed in this delightful process but I think it's worth it. The desire to express and for your expressions to make an impact on somebody are priceless. So here's to the great blogs, the fledgling blogs and to the little hole in the wall wonders.. CHEERS!
So what else have I been up to besides filing through blogs like a madwoman? Aside from the complete madness of April which was an endless bombardment of work, taxes, contract negotiations, appraisals, birthdays, colds (yes more), dental visits (yes multiple.. and more to come!), broken bones (not mine), and more people wanting my time than humanly possible... I've taken to speech slurring and misspelling of elementary words I learned in kindergarten. I actually just read that people who are under a lot of stress in their lives tend to have higher susceptibility to early dementia.. great!
I've also been on one of those what the hell am I doing, life is short and I'm running out of time to actually do the things I've always wanted to do tangents. So, I made a list of things I want to accomplish. I'm not going to go as far as calling these things "goals" because by the very mention of a goal I grow mentally and spiritually defiant. These "things" are not goals. They are simply the things I need to do in order to feel complete. I tried to narrow it down to the ones that have lingered in BOLD in my subconscious. We all have unique dreams and therefor in order to build on those dreams and attempt to actualize them we have to harness what it is that is unique about our dreams and not wonder off into somebody else's dream (easy to get lost).. hah!
In no particular order these are the things that comprise my DREAM:
-Become a better photographer i.e. learn to use my camera so that I can attempt to express my world through my own lens.
-Get my Nutrition license
-Improve on Guitar
-Explore France and Greece
-Ride on a Carousel in Montmartre
-Write a Script for an indie film and FINISH it! Already started...
-Write e-books on health topics and FINISH them... the hardest part!
-Learn to Sew
-Plant an amazing Garden
-Live Zero Waste, Sustainable and Minimally
-Go Gluten, Dairy and Nut free
-Visit Paris for Christmas
-Get my hair back to Natural.. been working on this one for a while. Almost there!
-Drink lots of coffee (in moderation of course)... one I can accomplish easily. Woohoo!
So that's the minimized version. Seems relatively doable no? If I seem absent, that's simply because I've got my plate full, but it doesn't mean I don't love you;-) What are your dreams? What things would you love to actually accomplish in YOUR life? I'd love to hear!!
Play with my own string quintet someday... to add or not to add? Looks pretty fun...
Today I am reminded of a childhood moment. My good friend Kaydee and I used to hang out ALL the time when I was between 11-13 years old. I mean we were together every second, because we were neighbors and we had busy parents who pretty much let us do whatever we wanted. Anyway.. one day I was watching Kaydee clean her living room (a typical scenario) and she was cleaning the windows with Windex and paper towels. So naturally I, being the know it all that I was told her "you're doing it wrong. You're supposed to use a wet rag and a dry rag". She looked at me frustrated and said "I don't care... I just want it cleaned a little bit". I actually have all of this on video because I used to videotape every second of my life. So I was like "A little bit? You just want it cleaned a little bit (in shock and horror)?! I should actually dig up this video and post it as I'm sure it would be a real hit;;-) But anyway, this reminded me of how a lot of people are about their health, myself included sometimes. It's not that people don't care about being healthy, it's just that it takes a lot of time to figure things out and to prepare healthy foods, so some people would rather have a quicker fix. For Kaydee, washing over the dirty windows with Windex and a paper towel sufficed, while I agonized over the streaks!
I actually know a lot of people who say "I want to clean up my diet and get healthier, but I just don't know how, and I don't want to change my lifestyle". I can totally sympathize with that, and a lot of people don't actually NEED to overhaul their lifestyle. I mean, if you're pretty healthy and you feel pretty good why should you need to go to extremes? You probably think I'm going to give you a pep talk here, and try to motivate you to overhaul your lifestyle but I'm not. I'm going to give you my Busy Persons Healthier Lifestyle Choices suggestions. I consider myself a very busy person, but I don't even have kids, or dogs, or commutes or big cities or frequent travel to deal with so I know it gets even more complicated and difficult to take care of yourself. Even though this is true, I think it is absolutely VITAL to take care of yourself the best you possibly can. Sooo... this is what I suggest.
AM: Obviously I'm going to suggest starting your morning with water and a hot beverage of some sort. Giving yourself this time in the morning is meditative. It gets you hydrated, and it stimulates your bowels. Sorry if you don't want to talk about it, but it NEEDS to happen. People who end up with colon cancer are often overweight, and have impacted, rotten waste deteriorating their colons. Don't hold on to this stuff people... let it go! Make it go! Do what you have to to get old gunk out of your colon.
Breakfast: We all know I'm a big advocate of green smoothies in the morning. I understand that it's difficult for some people to keep up on fresh produce, and for some, it's difficult just to make a smoothie in the morning. For you, I would suggest always having a jug of Odwalla Superfood or Naked Green Machine in your fridge. You can pour it into a jar, add a scoop of protein powder (I recommend hemp), shake it up and GO. If you can't do this much in the morning you're doomed;-)
Lunch: If you don't have any known allergies to wheat or gluten, I'm going to suggest always keeping a loaf of your favorite artisan (whole grain) bread, and/or Esekial Sprouted Bread, or Alvarado Sprouted Bagels in your freezer. Keeping bread in your freezer allows you to preserve bread, minimize waste, and thaw out only what you need. I also suggest having hummus in your refrigerator as it keeps for quite a while, and have a box (or two) of prewashed salad greens. There's so many options available today from spinach to spring mix to arugula to kale mixes. It's easy to throw a salad or sandwich together in seconds. Spread some hummus on the bread (if you wanted to get really fancy you could toast it), slice some cucumber, and throw some lettuce on your bread and your golden. You can make this the night before and just grab it before you leave. You have no excuses!
Snack: People the world over get hungry and tired around 4pm. Expect it, and prepare! Always always always have something like a Larabar, a Clif Bar, Almonds, some whole grain crackers or an Apple to get you through this slump!
Dinner: I think we all know I'm going to suggest getting into that salad box here. Keep things like canned salmon, and tuna in your cupboards. Keep frozen meats like chicken breast and wild salmon in your freezer. Keep fresh wild smoked salmon in your fridge. Yams and potatoes are great to have on hand because you can steam them in 10 minutes AND they keep for long periods of time so again, you avoid waste. You can also keep frozen fries in your freezer that you can bake in about 20 minutes. Having pickled vegetables like olives and kimchi or sauerkraut helps you to keep vegetable on hand without having to stockpile produce. You could also keep a jar of organic salsa to pour over your salad as dressing. The simplest salad in the world that EVERYONE has time to make would be: Salad Greens of Choice, Olives,Smoked Salmon, Cucumber slices (since you have a cucumber in your fridge already), and Sauerkraut. Steam a yam, or dip bread in olive oil to complete your meal.
I'm going to include a grocery list of the most essential grocery items for on the go people:
Organic Boxed Greens -Spinach and Arugula
Odwalla Superfood, or Naked Green Machine (the big jugs)
Nutiva Hemp Protein Powder
Organic Cucumbers
Organic Garnet Yams, Sweet Potatoes and small Red or fingerling Potatoes
Organic Fuji or Honeycrisp Apples
Frozen Organic Wild Sockey Salmon
Frozen Organic Free Range Chicken Breast
Wild Smoked Salmon (find one you like)
Canned tuna, and salmon (this makes life SO easy)
Veganais or Spectrum Canola Mayonaise (for Waldorf Salad of course)
Organic Ketchup for your potatoes or fries- I can't live without ketchup!!
Hummus (look for one made fresh from your local store or at least one made close by)
Clif Bars- Find your flavor (pretty good for Gluten sensitivity)
Lara Bars- If you don't have nut allergies
Organic Almonds
Whole Grain Crackers like Back To Nature Woven Wheat Crackers or Nut Thins
Sprouted Frozen Bread like Alvarado or Ezekial
Frozen French Fries- Regular or Sweet Potato are good
Fresh Artisan Whole Grain Bread baked in house- if you prefer
Fresh Olives from the olive bar- They're all good
Sauerkraut or Kimchee
Dried Turkish Figs- Make a great dessert and get your bowels moving! Just don't overdo.
Sweet Leaf Stevia- Vanilla Cream flavor- for your tea
Mate Factor Yerba Mate or other herbal tea for the morning.
Organic Olive Oil- for salad dressings and bread dipping.
Balsamic Vinegar- For Salad Dressing
Sea Salt- For Salad Dressing (olive oil, balsamic and sea salt are the magic trio)
There you have it. The essentials. If you wanted to up the ante you could also buy fresh bananas and frozen fruit for smoothies in the morning. This is a great base diet for anyone wishing to improve their diet without doing anything major. Remember, being healthy DOES involve preparation. The amount of preparation you are willing or able to do is up to you, but any amount is better than none! Don't find yourself hungry outside of fast food joints. Don't put yourself in temptations way and temptation won't find you!
Hello hellooo.. today's your lucky day! I just wanted to pop in to share my healthy homemade frappuccino recipe with all of you coffee addicts out there. It could be worse right? So I am as bad as anyone when it comes to my love of frappuccino's. Although I have narrowed it down to the healthiest possible denominator at coffee shops which is Dazbog's Frozen mocha with Almond milk and an extra shot (which means one shot). I thought I was doing pretty good. I asked the owner of Dazbog what kind of frappuccino powder they use so I could go home and look up the ingredients (my healthy obsession exposed). They use cool capps. I will say that this mix is the tastiest I've tried of all the coffee shops and actually this is the ONLY mix I will consume now because it doesn't have as much milk powder, but ultimately I just wanted to make my own healthy version of a frappuccino that was as good, and as energizing as Dazbog. First of all I want to share with you guys the ingredient list of the three most common frappuccino mixes used in coffee shops:
Sugar, Non-dairy Creamer (Corn Syrup Solids, Coconut Oil, Sodium Caseinate (A Milk Derivative), Dipotassium Phosphate, Tricalcium Phosphate, Natural and Artificial Flavor, Mono & Diglycerides, and Annatto and Turmeric Extracts), Corn Syrup Solids, Salt, Guar and Xanthan Gum, Silicon Dioxide, Natural & Artificial Flavors.
So they're all bad right? If you think you're saving yourself any nutrition by ordering decaf you're not. You're simply taking out the one ingredient that IS a natural food! And yes the Matcha blends are equally bad;-)
While I can't say I'll never order another frappuccino when I'm out and about (which is simply scary after KNOWING what's in there) I do know that when I'm at home I can make a super delish, healthy version that is simply divine.
Healthy Homemade Mocha Frappuccino
1 Shot Espresso (if you don't have an espresso maker go out there and get one people!)
1 Cup Almond Milk or Soy (anything but cow;;-)
2-3 Medjool Dates, PITTED (the secret ingredient that binds everything together and sweetens!)
5 Drops Vanilla Stevia
1 Tbsp Cocoa Powder (this makes it SUPER chocolaty, so adjust to your taste)
Pinch Sea Salt
1 Cup Ice
Blend Blend Blend.. and enjoy pure bliss. Rob's review was "you should market this shit". No joke. It's that good. Go out (or in) and make yourself one now!!
Today I also had:
Pre-breakfast- Mate + Honey (I go back and forth)
Breakfast- Blue Green Smoothie of 1/2 Banana, 1 Cup fro Blueberries, 3 Fresh Strawberries, 3 Kale Leaves (destemmed), 1 Scoop Hemp Protein Powder, little pour E3 Live.
Lunch: Overnight Banana Protein Oats (recipe below)
Boost: Healthy Homemade Mocha Frappuccino
Refresher: Veggie Juice of 7 Kale Leaves, 4 Celery, 2 Carrot, 1/2 Lemon, 1/2 Apple, 1 Fennel stalk.
Dinner: (will be) Arugula and Romaine Waldorf Salad (recipe below)
Overnight Banana Protein Oats:
1 Ripe Banana, Smashed
1/4-1/3 Cup Oats
1 Scoop Garden Of Life Super Seed Protein Powder
1 Tbsp Cocoa Powder OR Sprinkles of Cinnamon
Smash your banana in a bowl or to go container, add oats, protein powder, cocoa powder or cinnamon. Smash and mix everything together well. Flatten out mixture with a fork. Cover and put in the refrigerator overnight. You could also make this in the morning and eat it for lunch... or a snack... or dessert! If you like it a little moister you could add some almond milk as well. Slice and top with more banana (optional). Easy easy easy...
Arugula and Romaine Waldorf Salad with Fennel:
1/2 Head Organic Arugula
1/2 Head Romaine Lettuce
1 Can Wild Alaskan Tuna (the more expensive one;)
1 Fuji or Honey Crisp Apple, Cored and chopped
1 Stick Celery, chopped
1 Stalk Fennel, chopped
2 Tbsp Veganaise or other healthy brand of mayo. I also like Spectrum Light Canola Mayo.
1 Tbsp Dried Cranberries
1 Tbsp Crumbled Pecans
Wash and tear up lettuce and combine in a bowl. Chop apple, fennel and celery and combine in a separate bowl. Add whole can of tuna, plus cranberries and pecans. Add mayo and mix and mash until everything is well coated. Top your greens with the waldorf salad and eat your heart out! I don't know about you guys but I like to eat, so by eating enticing, deliciously healthy foods like this you can!
If there's one man I LOoove driving in the sweet spring dusk... it's Ray Lamontagne. Enjoy!
Hello faithful cleansers! So everything you heard is true. I deserve an F for my cleansing efforts this week. It was tough to just get through the week without focusing on cleansing. There were many instances where chips and/or Nut Thins found their sneaky way into my brain. Like the day I worked from 8am-6pm with no breaks, to come home and work on brainy house contract stuff for 4 hours. This is all a part of the DIYers dilemma (I should write the book). Since we don't have realtors working with us on this house deal we're figuring all this stuff out as we go. It SUUCKS.. trust me there have been moments of weakness where I thought let's just call our realtors and pay them 15k to figure all this crap out for us. But instead I said "okay, I'll do it if I can snack on Nut Thins".. lol! I'm SOO easy.
Obviously this is not actually day nine of my cleanse, as I started it about three weeks ago. I've just been labeling the cleanse days chronologically for the sake of saving you (the reader) from confusion. Otherwise one day would be Day 3, then the next would be Day 8. See? So I tried to post only on the days where I did really good and/or had something interesting to note. From today I will continue to label "Cleanse Days" chronologically, but that doesn't necessarily mean I'm cleansing every day. That means I'm trying every day, but I'm also experimenting with different things, and yes some days giving into my inner monster that just wants things to be the way they were. It's all a part of the process I always say. For me, changing my habits has always been very gradual, otherwise I rebel.
The weekends have proven to be great days for actually cleansing for me. Some people do better with self discipline when they're otherwise distracted, but I've found that I do much better when I'm very focused. I may have mentioned in a previous post that I'm flighty... my flighty tendencies tend to find their way into every nook and cranny of my life. Like David Wolfe used to say "the way you do one thing is the way you do everything". All we can do is embrace our ways and try to work with them!
So it's all a part of the process my friends, but it's important to keep our goals in mind. Refresh them in our minds everyday. My goal is to mend my way towards eating all natural unprocessed foods 95% of the time so I can be free of the things that I'm dealing with. By the way, the things I'm dealing with include achy cracky joints (especially my hips!), strange bumps and moles are appearing on my skin, and a high susceptibility to headaches. Then there's the teeth issue as well as wanting to strengthen my immune system. I do notice significant improvement in most of these categories when I'm eating the cleaner diet, so THAT is what propels me to continue in my efforts.
Then there's the fact that I believe that humans are biologically designed to eat natural foods, so there's always that ideology lingering in the back of my brain. Interesting fact: my cat's health and appearance have significantly improved since I put her on her biological diet of meat and veggies. What can I say.. she's been my inspiration! Thanks kitty:-)
What I've been eating:
Pre-breakfast- Mate + Stevia
Breakfast- Whole Body Mint Mintless Smoothie or Date Protein Shake
Boost: Stevia Latte
Lunch: Steamed Yams + Salad or Broccoli + Protein like smoked salmon, chicken, hard boiled eggs or tofu.
Snack: More Mintless smoothie (I often save half for later), or Banana, or Date Protein Shake
Dinner: Salad + Protein + Steamed Yams, Potatoes or Squash
Dessert: Chocolate Ginger:-)
So as you can see my diet is tending towards a paleo/primal one that focuses on veggies, fruit, starchy root veggies and a little protein. Not having gluten has not been an issue and if anything I have noticed improvements!
I've totally gotten my mom into eating lots of yams. The other day she came up with this brilliant lunch idea:
Yam Burrito
1 Yam
Wash and prick yam. Stick in oven at 400' for 30 min. Let cool. If you're not averse to microwaving you could also stick it in there for about 5 min. I know the picture has foil, but I don't recommend using foil in cooking ever unless you have an early alzheimers wish:-) Then you just take it and eat it like a burrito skin and all! This could easily be your whole lunch.
Another lunch I've been loving lately is:
Steamed Veggies and Protein Plate
Steamed yams, Broccoli, and garlic cloves + Boiled Eggs... perfection. Great finger food too! I love foods I can eat with my fingers on the go.
Morcheeba: Part Of the Process (sorry about the poor camera quality)
Happiness... we all want it. We all seek it. We all aspire to be in it's alluring safety net of fluffy goodness at all times. We can't define it. We can't control it. We can't wish it into being, or give it away when we have it. Happiness is by far the most mysterious of all states of being. We can't buy it. We can't attain it through rigid austerity or by strategically disciplined physiological, or psychological means. All we can really seem to do is to seek it and allow it.
Ask anyone to define happiness, and you will get a myriad of responses. So what is happiness to you? To me, happiness is the state of knowing where I've been, where I am, and where I'm going. Therefor, acknowledging my past, where I came from, who I was, how I've grown, what I've learned, how I've changed (for better or for worse). Acknowledging where I am. Meditating on this moment. This is my self created life. And acknowledging where I want my life to go. Having goals, not only for my life in this physical existence, but for after my life. Always having that bigger picture connection with who will I be remembered as? How will people know me when I'm gone? What kind of a mark (big or small) will I leave? What do I stand for? Always having that higher connection gives me my guide for the choices I make and beliefs I keep.
What else is happiness? Is it getting everything you want, having the perfect job, clothes, house, husband, kids, prestige? Is it attaining the perfect body and having the perfect hair, nails and shoes? Do you really think the housewives of Beverly Hills look happy at all? Do you think the proprietors of fashion look happy at all? I mean, look in their eyes. Some people are into fashion because they truly have a passion for the design sense, or the creation side of it and I get that. But it seems to me that a large majority of 'fashion focused' people are insecure, obsessive and miserable. And why? Who are they trying to impress? Clearly none of them are ever happy.. with anything!
To me, happiness is being awake. It's being aware at all times. Always seeking a balance between that perfect state of paradisical idealism I know is there and waiting, and living my life according to the breeze. I like the simultaneous combustion of effort and ease in everything I do. If I had the ability I would design everything in my life because there is satisfaction in creation. There is joy in deliberate action and completion. There is security (within human control) in self sufficiency and sustainability. There is strength in being your own person and not following the flock. There is enlightenment in letting go. There is learning in hardship, and lessons in cleaning up the messes we find ourselves in. This is living to me. Feeling alive is being alive and living is happiness.
All of this talk of happiness reminds me of one of my favorite movies Off The Map. I know this movie doesn't initially strike a person as being the "happiest" movie in the world, but everything in perspective. Stereotypical "happy" movies generally portray a false sense of happiness that relates to one or all of the superficial adjuncts of happiness that typically define happiness to the mainstream mind, such as a movie about finding romance or getting one's dream job. This movie, Off The Map (the 2003 movie, not the new t.v. series) portrays an idea of a life and a dream that can actually lead to a a lifestyle or a mindset that propels a sense of contemplation on life and fulfillment. I actually just ordered a bunch of my favorite movies from Amazon. They were all super cheap, like $1 each! This was one of them so I'm looking forward to watching it again, and will probably be suggesting some other movies that have made an impact on my mind in one way or another in the next while.
P.s. I'm still working on that homemade healthy frappuccino recipe so sit tight! There's just one kink in the recipe that has to do with coagulation. In this case.. over coagulation, but it's SOOO close. I'll keep you posted;-)
Hello fellow cleansers! I haven't stopped cleansing, I've just been super busy and in the "body lab" so to speak tweaking a few things about the cleanse. As you know last week I included a bowl of simple oatmeal for lunch (I was experimenting). That night I also had sushi (with rice). I didn't feel great that day. I also didn't feel great having two smoothies, or bean soup for lunch! I also felt like I still had too many sugars in my diet. If there's one thing cleansing does is it either confuses you completely, OR makes you more aware of what you put in your body and how THAT makes you feel.
(Kimberly Snyder aka.. glow queen)
So, this weekend I decided to go grain free completely during my cleansing. I also opted to use stevia in my morning Mate, which was hard but not THAT hard;-) I do love my honey but my body is just asking for less sugar right now.
(Beauty Detox Solution. Have it. Love it. Recommend it!)
Now that it's the weekend I have more time to listen to what my body wants and make things accordingly. I'm REALLY excited about my new protein drink recipe!! I got it off of the blog Healthy Crush, which I LOVE by the way. I'll post the recipe below.
Today I plan to have:
Pre-Breakfast- Yerba Mate with Stevia (I prefer Sweet Leaf Vanilla Creme liquid stevia) FYI.. a little stevia goes a LONG way. If you use too much you will ruin your taste for stevia forever. I use five drops.
Breakfast- Whole Body Mint Mintless Smoothie (recipe below)
Lunch- Date Protein Shake (recipe below)
Boost I- Homemade Healthy Frappuccino recipe (still in development, I've got your backs;;-)
Boost II- 1oz Shot Blue Green Algea or Green Powder of choice mixed with juice of choice.
Dinner- Salad + Organic Free Range Rotisserie Chicken + Baked Butternut Squash Cubes
My green smoothie recipe is also different. I wanted something that was more like a juice so I took some pointers from Kimberly Snyders Glowing Green Smoothie, and altered it to my tastes. This smoothie isn't a dessert smoothie by any means. It is healthy. It's kind of like having a salad in a glass. The effect is that the smoothie is very alkalizing on the body. It also balances the bodies ph. It makes you feel fresh like your whole body just had a mint! So I'm calling it the Whole Body Mint Mintless Smoothie. If you want to start radiating health and glowing from within... drink up!
Whole Body Mint Mintless Smoothie
1 small Frozen Banana, or 1/2 large
1/2 Apple, cored and chopped
1 Celery Stick, rinsed and chopped
4 Romaine Leaves, rinsed and torn
Water to desired consistency, I use about 1 cup
Ice, a few handfuls- this makes it much more palatable
Date Protein Shake
1 Cup Almond Milk, unsweetened
2 Medjool Dates, pitted and torn up
1 Scoop Hemp Protein Powder
1 Cup Ice
Blend Blend Blend!
You could also sprinkle in some cinnamon or nutmeg:-)
Enjoy with this Jakob Dylan song. I had nearly forgotten about Jakob Dylan until recently I heard one of his songs on a movie soundtrack (Our Idiot Brother). I fell in love again...
I am a girl in the world. I like farm fresh food, clean drinking water, sustainable living, learning to do everything on my own and finding new ways to live FREE so I can be who I want to BE.
